Bond Millen Gallery is pleased to present Light Fields, a two-person exhibition featuring new work by Susan English and Cate West Zahl, on view from Wednesday, October 15 through Saturday, November 22.
Though distinct in material and process, English and West Zahl share an interest in the layered subtleties of surface, space, and perception.
Susan English works with poured pigments suspended in resin, allowing chance and control to converge in luminous, atmospheric compositions. Her surfaces capture light with quiet precision, evoking horizons, water, and shifting skies.
Cate West Zahl approaches painting through gesture and density, building textured fields that hover between abstraction and structure. Her works vibrate with energy, suggesting architecture, memory, and landscape in flux.
Together, their practices engage in a dialogue of light and weight, transparency and opacity, restraint and release. Light Fields places their works in conversation, highlighting how each artist expands the language of abstraction while drawing the viewer into a heightened awareness of perception and materiality.
