Cochrane’s new sculptural work started as an investigation into how human innovation and mysticism has brought us to the element of lead throughout history.Lead is one of the most complex yet crucial elements that contributed to the success of human evolution. The theoretical transformation of lead into gold was the pursuit of alchemists across continents.
Cochrane’s floral sculptures explore this transformation, highlighting our magical and mysterious relationship with nature, and each other. While his lead flowers started as table top sculptures, they’ve transformed into site specific wall installations.
