Baking is a big part of my artistic practice, so I wanted to take my cake decoration skills and implement them into these two pieces for my Senior Capstone.
Both pieces are made from lightweight spackle. I use piping tips for decorating cakes to pipe these 3D flowers and create shadows within them. I pipe white on white to emphasize these qualities and to create a likeness to the flowers, devoid of color, which is one of our main associations. These pieces are a connection between womanhood/girlhood, flowers, and being a feminist.
